November 12, 2024 at 9:09 amIts is a movie with a great idea, but it doesn’t make the most of that idea. While it has some enjoyable moments, it lacks the emotional depth, tension and character development that would have elevated it into something truly memorable.
The flow of the story is uneven. The charaters are thin and the plot is predctable with too many unanswered questons left by the end. The scene after the credits suggests more is coming, but since the story feels incomplete, its unclear if a sequel would be any better.
The acting is good by Anthony Mackie and Morena Baccarin. Mackie brings his usual strength and presence to the role of the physicist, anchoring the group with his calm, thoughtful performance. His character is a bit underdeveloped, but Mackie still manages to convey a sense of determination and vulnerability that keeps him engaging. Morena Baccarin gives a particularly strong performance, especially in emotional scenes where her character is grieving and struggling with loss.
For me, it is worth a watch for fans of post-apocalyptic thrillrs who are curious about the concept, but don’t expect a film that will leave you fully satisfied. It’s an entertaining enough watch, but one that ultimately feels more like a missed opportunity than a standout entry in the genre. If you are hoping for a A Quiet Place expereince, this movie might disappoint, but its still an engaging enough for those willing to overlook its flaws.

November 12, 2024 at 7:11 pmI just watched Elevation and, honestly, it’s a bit of a mixed bag. I enjoyed the concept of the movie and the world they built, but the plot felt a little too familiar. The performances from Anthony Mackie and Morena Baccarin were decent, though I expected more emotional depth from both of them. There were moments where they really could’ve gone further, but the script just didn’t give them enough to work with. That said, it was still a fun watch if you’re into post-apocalyptic thrillers. The pacing was solid, and the creature design was cool. Worth a watch if you’re into the genre, but don’t expect anything groundbreaking.
