   Bro, this movie offers a great supporting cast and enough unexpected twists to keep it feeling fresh and original. Its definitely not a family-friendly film, as the F-word is used frequently… often as though it’s a preposition! It’s very, very Boston in its tone, so delicate sensibilities may find it offensive.

   The action sequences are thrilling, with a standout performance from Toby Jones as the mayor’s lawyer. Ron Perlman also delivers a magnificent portrayal of a corrupt mayor, truly embodying a grotesque figure of power. The film’s humor is hit or miss between the leads; while Casey Affleck excels at playing his “odd-ball” character, Matt Damon’s comic timing feels a bit forced and doesn’t come as naturally.

   The screenplay is straightforward, nothing too complex, but it does the job for the most part. The heart of the movie lies with its characters, though it doesn’t quite reach the emotional depth it could have outside of its humor.

   The minimalist direction, which permeates much of the dialogue, may have contributed to a lack of emphasis in key moments. This might be a downside for some viewers, but it’s just my personal opinion.

   Overall, if you can turn off your brain and go along for the ride, it’s a highly recommended watch!
